Hello Everyone,

This page provides the identity of military museums which are open and have
radar station and air defense reference material and/or equipment on display;
those available to you in the CONUS, CANADA and the UK.

If you know of a museum (military or otherwise) not listed, which qualifys or
if you find errors in this listing, let me know.

Those of you who live near any of these museums, if you're willing to serve as
an "on call" VOLUNTEER TOUR GUIDE at one of these locations, send me your name,

COMOX AIR FORCE MUSEUM; In 1954 Comox became home to a Pinetree Line radar
early-warning station, operated by the 51st Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron.
This facility was closed in June 1958 with the advent of more advanced radar
systems; it's located in the province of British Columbia, on Vancouver Island,
in the Comox Valley with the main entrance gate on the corner of Little River
Rd/Military Row and Ryan Rd, right across from the CANEX and Fitness and
Community Centre. Very close to the Comox Airport; Open to the Public Year Round,

RADAR and AIR DEFENSE EXHIBITS; a few buildings are left from WW II era & the
old radar station. Also, 2 towers (metal clad) with a cement block house
between are right along side the road to Air Force Beach & Tepee Park. They
are being used for storage by the AF museum which is located in the old base
theatre.

RADAR and AIR DEFENSE EXHIBITS; several thousand photographs, as well as
original radar equipment. While most WWII-era radar equipment has long since
been destroyed, the museum has examples of GEE, Fishpond, IFF (Identify
Friend or Foe) radars, along with magnetrons, vacuum tubes (known as valves
in England) and several hundred personal and artifacts of various types.

RADAR and AIR DEFENSE EXHIBITS; modern day radar. When the Beaverlodge Pinetree
site was decommissioned, prior to the FPS-20 Search Radar being shipped
Stateside, the people in Beaverlodge lobbied the Dept of National Defence to
have some part of the Beaverlodge Radar moved to the Museum site, to
commemorate the many years of service by USAF allies and then by the RCAF in
the area.
