Proposed Constitutional Ammendment

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.
Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.

The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that passed ... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

Congressional Reform Act of 2010

  1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below..
    A. Two Six-year Senate terms
    B. Six Two-year House terms
    C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

  2. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congress person collects a salary and non-political expenses while in office and receives no pay or expenses when out of office.

  3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

  4. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as all real Americans do.

  5. Congress can no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

  6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

  7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

  8. All contracts with past and present Congress people are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with Congress. Congress made all these contracts for themselves.

  9. All members of Congress will pay their taxes, just like middle to low income families must, or be hounded by the IRS, until said taxes have been paid.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
