Project E-Mail Lists

From Robert Garner
The Computer History Museum's volunteer IBM 1401 restoration project offers four different email distribution lists serving different purposes. Robert Garner can add your email to one of these 1401 distribution lists, or you may request membership in a list by going to: http://mail.computerhistory.org/mailman/listinfo Note that it's possible to be a member of two of these lists (which, unfortunately, may sometimes result in receiving two copies of posts). Here are the four 1401 distribution lists:

<1401_team@computerhistory.org> is reserved for CHM volunteers active in the restoration of the CHM's 1401 systems and various unit-record machines. The team typically meets in the 1401 restoration room every Weds and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, with a special 729 and 729 Emulator tape team gathering every Thursday.

<1401_founders@computerhistory.org> is for retired IBMers who participated in the 1401, 1410, 1440, 1460, 7010 or WWAM projects, either hardware or software engineering, program support & infrastructure, manufacturing, marketing, or management. Jud McCarthy has assembled a list of all know 1400-family members, linked on this page: http://www.ed-thelen.org/1401Project/1950sTeamBios.html

<1401_software@computerhistory.org> is for anyone interested in discussing 1401 software, either pertinent to our restoration project or about the history of 1401 software.

<1401_interest@computerhistory.org> is open for anyone interested in general announcements about the 1401 restoration project or related events or 1401 stories and history in general (and is not a member of any of the above lists).

<1401_all@computerhistory.org> is an alias that automatically sends a message to the above four distribution lists, used for sending announcements of wide-spread interest and applicability (such as the 1401 event being planned for Nov 10th, 2009).

Etiquette: When you receive a message from one of these 1401 distribution lists, please do your fellow list members a favor and do not respond with a "reply all".

Thanks,

- Robert
